We ask that all volunteers make a non-refunable donation contribution to DIY Wild. We receive no government support and the volunteer program is what keeps the project alive. Getting To Us

This project starts every Monday throughout the year. We will pick you up from Nelspruit.

There are regular bus shuttles (www.citybug.co.za) which will pick you up at the airport and drop you in Nelspruit. The trip is about 4 hours and costs around R410 (about £25). You MUST book your bus in advance.

If you arrive into Nelspruit early and need an overnight stay we recommend Old Vic Travellers backpackers. We can also recommend activities in the area if you are staying a few nights.

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the length of your stay in South Africa. You can check with your local South African embassy to see if you are eligible for the free 3 month visa. When you arrive in South Africa and are asked the purpose of your visit, please respond ‘tourist’. Even though you are volunteering, there can be complications due to the misunderstanding that you may be being paid for your time working at the project.
