                           Dates and Rates

This project starts every Monday throughout the year.

Volunteers are responsible for their own transport into Johannesburg and then onto Nelspruit where you will be collected by one of our team.

There are regular bus shuttles (www.citybug.co.za) which will pick you up at the airport and drop you in Nelspruit. The trip is about 4 hours and costs around R410 (about £25). You MUST book your bus in advance.

If you arrive into Nelspruit early and need an overnight stay we recommend Funky Monkeys backpackers. We can also recommend activities in the area if you are staying a few nights.

We ask for a volunteer contribution of £200 per month per person while at the project to cover accommodation and 1 transfer to and from Nelspruit.

Volunteers are then responsible for buying and preparing their own food during their stay.

The £200 covers:

Accommodation on site at the project
Training by qualified staff
1 transfer to and from Nelspruit

This cost excludes:

Food

Flights to South Africa and travel on to Nelspruit
Travel and medical insurance
Extra activities

Visa requirements depend on your nationality and the length of your stay in South Africa. You can check with your local South African embassy to see if you are eligible for the free 3 month visa. When you arrive in South Africa and are asked the purpose of your visit, please respond ‘tourist’. Even though you are volunteering, there can be complications due to the misunderstanding that you may be being paid for your time working at the project.
